MATERIALS & SAFETY

Our fabric is Oeko-Tex certified and woven by a family run mill in India, before being dyed and finished to a high standard here in the UK. Otto Sling 80% cotton, 20% polyester.   We have deliberately chosen cotton jersey due to it’s soft, breathable and stretchy nature, making it ideal for babies weighing from 3lbs to 18lbs. Our labels are 100% leather and the dust bag is 100% cotton.

Our rings are provided by a family run business, previously sling manufacturers themselves, who are dedicated to providing the best quality rings.  Tested by SGS to a breaking force of 2750lbs and are lead and nickel free.

In order to make sure you’ve achieved a safe and supported hold, ensure you’ve met the following ticks.  These keep your baby securely in the sling and help aid your comfort whilst baby wearing.

Close enough to kiss: Always make sure your baby’s head is within ‘kissing distance’.

Fabric tight across the back: Check that the fabric is tight and smooth across your baby’s back to prevent them from slumping.

Bottom below knees: Make sure your baby’s little knees are spread apart, tucked up towards their tummy, meaning their bottom is always lower.

Keep chin off chest: Ensure there is always at least a finger’s width between your baby’s chin and their neck and that they have enough air circulating around their face.

Dress Appropriately: Bear in mind that one layer of sling = one layer of clothing when wearing your child.

Fabric splayed across the shoulder: Ensure the that the outermost part of your shoulder is in the center of the fan of fabric.

Rings in ‘Boutonniere’ position: You know the place where a groom might pop a flower on his jacket?  That’s where you want your rings to sit.

You must always read all safety, use and care instructions prior to using this sling.  Please check yourself and your baby against guidelines for safe babywearing every time you carry your baby.
